Kohl doesn't collect anything. There are no accounts, no servers and no analytics. Everything you put into the app stays on your phone.
Your clients' names, phone numbers, notes, formulas and photos, along with your bookings, prices and payment records, are saved in the app's own storage on your device. None of it is transmitted anywhere. We can't see it, and neither can anyone else — there is no server holding a copy.
If you add a photo to a client, Kohl asks your phone for permission to open your photo library. The image you pick is resized and stored inside the app on your device. Photos are never uploaded.
Appointment reminders are scheduled by your own phone, not sent from anywhere. They work with no signal and no internet. Turning them on asks for the notification permission your phone requires; nothing about your bookings leaves the device to make them work.
Only when you deliberately send it, and only where you choose to send it:
In every case the app hands the information to you. It never sends anything on its own, in the background, or without you asking.
Kohl is free for up to five clients. Unlocking unlimited clients is handled entirely by your phone's app store — Google Play on Android, the App Store on iPhone. Payment details go to Google or Apple, never to us, and we never see your card. To know whether you've unlocked it, Kohl asks the store when it opens and when you tap Restore; that check goes to the store, not to us. What Kohl stores is a single note on your device saying the app is unlocked. The store's handling of your purchase is covered by Google's privacy policy or Apple's privacy policy.
On Android, Kohl's entry on Google Play lists an internet permission, and a few others you might not expect. These come from the standard building blocks the app is made of — the notification component brings several along whether or not they're used, and buying through Google Play needs one of its own. Kohl itself doesn't make network requests, and it works completely offline; the only thing that goes online is the store checking your purchase, described above. If Kohl ever does need the internet for something, that will be described here first.
Kohl is a tool for professionals running a business. It isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly hold information about them.
Because everything lives on your device, you're in control of all of it. Erase everything and start over on the Profile screen clears the whole book immediately. Uninstalling Kohl removes it too. There's nothing to request from us, and no copy anywhere for us to delete — so please keep a backup if you want to be able to get any of it back.
You're holding your clients' personal information on your own phone, which in most places makes you the one responsible for looking after it. Worth a passcode on the device, and worth keeping backups somewhere safe.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If Kohl ever starts collecting anything — it has no plans to — that will be stated here plainly and in the app before it happens.
